Lunch on 27th Sept 2006(Wed)

We have decided to go to the Hawker stall called Penang Delights at Adjunied Avenue 2 Hawker Center as it was recommended by one of the local newspapers. We had ordered the recommended "Lok Lok Mee" at S$2.00 and the noodle was reasonably tasty but the "Char Siew Pork" tasted a bit of strange to me. We had also ordered the highly recommended Penang "Char Kway Teow" at S$2.50 but we were deeply disappointed with the taste or there was no taste. It was very plain with 2 prawns and it did not deserved any star rating at all as I think that my younger son can fried them better! We had also ordered the "Penang Prawn Noodle" at S$2.50. The presentation looked reasonable but the taste was not that tasty. The soup had little taste of prawn and was drinkable as we did not ordered any soft drink! The food was supposed to be self service but we were served as they was no other customer at that time. The service was dull and I will not go back any for tasting for a long time to come. (My Overall Rating *)

Lunch on 22nd Sept 2006(Friday)

We had actually wanted to try the Penang Fried Kway Teow at the hawker centre in Aljunied Avenue 2 but there was a long queue. Hence, we had decided to try at another outlet which is at Golden Cafe near the corner and it is air-conditioned which is a good consolation as it was quite hot on that afternoon! I had ordered the Seafood Fried Kway Teow topped with a "sunny side up" fresh egg as the picture on the menu looked quite interesting with the price of S$4.00. The food was served and it looked quite closed to the picture in the menu. I had then mixed the fresh egg with the hotly fried kway teow to ensure that it is "cooked enough" to minimise any association with the "bird flu"! The service was good with the clean & cool environment. However, the fried kway teow's taste was just average and I could not find anything interesting other than it looks quite tempting with the fresh egg when it was served. (My overall rating is ***)

Dinner on 18th Sept 2006(Monday)

We had Chicken Chop for dinner and a side dish of Bak Kut Teh at the 688 Coffee Shop in Serangoon Centre. The Chicken Chop's portion is quite generous at the price of S$5.00 that came with a piece of garlic bread, potatoes chips, baked beans and coleslaw. The sauce tasted good together with the fried chicken chop. The coffee shop is also quite crowded during dinner time and we needed to wait for a minute for a table. It is good to know that our food was served to our table and we would like to go back again in the near future. Next time, we will concentrate more on the Bak Kut Teh's stall with other choices of food. (My overall rating for the Chicken Chop is **** )

Dinner on 17th Sept 2006(Sunday)

We had our dinner at S11 food court in Ang Mo Kio Centre and had ordered Chicken Chop from the Western Food outlet. The pan fried chicken was acceptable but the gravy was on a little light side and did not have the "solid" taste. The set is priced at S$5.50 which included a piece of toasted bread, some potatoes chips, baked beans and a portion of coleslaw. The food court was rather crowded but it was good that the outlet serves our ordered food to our table as we had to "chope" it. We may go back in the near future for another try on other dishes like Fish and Chip, Grilled Salmon, etc. (My Overall Rating ***)

Dinner on 10th Sept 2006(Sunday)

We had tried another "bak kut teh" store in the coffee shop outside KFC's at Toa Payoh Center but the pork rib is not hot(a little warm only) while the braised pork leg is too fat and other complimentaries dishes are not impressive too. There is no service or it is self-service only. Not recommended for re-visit in the near future. (My Overall Rating * ).

Lunch on 7th Sept 2006(Thursday)

We had a family lunch this afternoon and had eaten "bak kut teh" with other local specialities like braised pork leg, tau pok and tau kwa at the local coffee shop's outlet named Que Tai in Macpherson area. The bak kut teh tasted right and the braised pork leg was tender and delicious. Overall, the food was Yummmmy...while the workers' services are average but the boss's service is more friendly. I will be back for more tastings in the near future. (My Overall Rating ****)

This is our first family lunch's photo that I took on 7th September 2006. I am learning about blogging with the help of my two sons...will continue to improve as I get to learn more along the way. Please bear with it while I continue with my food journey.
